A healthy and effective government depends on proven leadership and experience. The 2011 Democratic candidates for Board of Selectmen,
Board of Finance, Board of Education, Library and Constables have the necessary skills to lead Somers through challenging times.

Our 2011 slate of candidates represents the right blend of experienced officials and solid community service to position Somers for the future

Kathy Devlin
   Experience:

Served 37 years on town boards and commissions
Selectman for 10 Years
33 Years Business Experience
Northeast Director for Johnson and Johnson Health Car Systems
National Account Manager for Roche Laboratories
Controlled government spending – increases averaged less than 3% annually
Revised health insurance options, reducing costs by 12.5%
Passionately supports the Plan of Conservation • Consistently votes bi-partisan
Member of the Somers Education Foundation – supports excellence in education
Somers Resident for 40 years

Commitment:
Kathy will seek opportunities for regional cooperation to further save tax dollars
Drive the development of long-range plan encompassing all business aspects for Town government
Continue the effective work of the Board of Selectmen for the residents of Somers

Tim Potrikus
   Experience:

Eight years experience on the Board of Education
Member of the CIP Committee
Vice President & General Manager of Liturgical Publications, Inc.
Works with over 40,000 small businesses throughout the Northeast
Made strategic investments in capital while preserving core cash
Expanded into new markets through acquisition – stabilized employment
for 100 employees
Worked cooperatively with other boards as a member of the Somers Board of Education
Board of Education Liaison to the Board of Finance
Served on Somers Capital Improvement Process as Board of Education Representative working
to balance capital needs of Somers


Commitment:
Tim is committed to serving on the Board of Finance with the same passion and dedication he has provided to the Board
of Education. He will work to prioritize spending and ensure Somers receives its share of state and federal grants. Tim will
work to ensure tax rates are equitable for town services.









          Anne Kirkpatrick

Twelve Years Experience on the Board of Education
Former Chair, Somers Board of Education
Experience as Chair of policy, curriculum and budget
Member of S.A.V.E. Steering Committee – formed to pass referendum vote for additions to all
three schools


Commitment:
Anne’s experience on the Board of Education and her community involvement is unique and valuable. She is committed
to student learning and the school facilities. As a former teacher, administrator and educational consultant Anne has the
knowledge to see that money is spent wisely.







            Brad Pellissier

30 Years Public Service Experience to the Town of Somers
Assistant Program Director for the Office of Protection and Advocacy for
Persons’ with Disabilities, Abuse Investigation Division
Representative to the Capitol Region Council on Government
Consistently votes bi-partisan


Commitment:
Brad will use his skills to ensure the future of the Somers community and understands working together is essential. He is committed
to the continuation of quality educational programs for all students. Brad is a parent of current students and an alumnus
of the Somers Public Schools.






          Mark Maniscalco
  
Experience:


Western, New England College, School of Law, Juris Doctor
Attorney – bankruptcy, probate and real estate law
Judge of Probate for 4 years
Instructor at The People’s Law School
Classes for the public concerning different legal subjects, such as
Bankruptcy, Family Law, Trusts & Estates


Commitment:
Mark will use the powers inherent in the state Constitution and General Laws to guarantee
students receive their educational entitlements. He is determined to be a member of the
Board of Education to ensure that Somers students are afforded a good education.






            David Pinney

Commitment:
Dave is a lifelong Somers Resident committed to the importance of providing a quality education for Somers children.
Maintaining a quality public school system in the most efficient manner is one of the most critical functions of a town. He
is dedicated to pursuing opportunities for improvement utilizing current resources and innovative use of newer technologies.
