Sharing the Warmth of the Season

The Service and Volunteer Effort Club (S.A.V.E.) and Mabelle B. Avery's "Free to Be" Day held on Dec. 22nd, at the middle school in Somers, teamed up to make fleece blankets for a Native American Reservation located in South Dakota. A total of 25 blankets were made. The students are helping Girl Scout Junior Troop 5172 earn their Bronze Star. The troop is hoping to make and send 100 blankets to the reservation. If you would like to make a blanket to donate please contact Karyn O'Donnell, S.A.V.E. Club Advisor at the Mabelle B. Avery Middle School, at 749-2270 to connect with the school office. A special thank you to Hancock Fabrics in East Longmeadow for helping us with the fleece.
