King Arthur Flour Bread Baking

On Friday March 30, 2007 Carolyn Hack from the KIng Arthur Flour Company taught the students and staff at Mabelleb B. Avery  Middle School in Somers,CT to bake Bread.  We held two assemblies to provide smaller groups for her.  Invited guests included Murray and Priscilla Brayson from Enfield Loaves and Fishes, Polly Mc Cranney from the First Congregational Church's Food Pantry, Alicia Flynn from Food Share and members of The Little Sisters of the Poor located in Enfield.  After watching and learning the techniques on baking bread,  the students of MBA went home with all the supplies needed to bake two loaves of bread.  The instructions were to keep one home to enjoy with your family and return the other loaf on Monday for us to donate.  We are proud to report that 345 loaves of bread were bought in on Monday which was then delivered that day to Enfield Loaves and Fishes, The Food Pantry and The Little Sisters of the Poor.  The students walked into  school beaming with pride on what they had accomplished and we here at MBA were proud that they  answered the call.
