Who are Rotarians?Rotarians are average citizens and in fact one may be your next door neighbor. From its beginning nearly 100 years ago, Rotary was designed to be a club where business people would share common ideas and provide service back to the community. To fulfill that idea, membership into Rotary does have some restrictions. Typically, Rotarians live or work in the the town. A Rotarian must be someone who is a working professional, owns a business, or holds a "managerial" position in a business. To promote diversity, club membership has restrictions on the number of members from one profession. This restriction prohibits a club from being comprised of one type of occupation. Rotary holds no bias to race, religion or gender. Rotarians represent all shapes and sizes of people from around the world. But most of all, Rotarians are people committed to high ethical standards and all Rotarians must agree to conduct business based on the Four Way Test.
