The Conservation Commission is charged by state mandate with protecting and
preserving inland wetlands and watercourses through the administration of the
Somers Inland Wetlands and
Watercourse Regulations. In addition, the Conservation Commission serves in
an advisory role to the other land use Commissions regarding a broad range of
land use and natural resource issues. Properties containing wetlands or
watercourses are required to obtain an Inland Wetland Permit prior to any work
being started. Permit applications are filed with the Somers Land Use Office at
least four (4) business days prior to the next scheduled meeting date. The
Conservation Commission normally meets at 7:00 P.M. on the first Wednesday of
the month (please see schedule) at the Town
Hall, 600 Main Street, Somers, Connecticut. Agendas are posted at the Town
Hall 48 hours prior to the meeting. Special Meetings and Public Hearings, their
locations and times, will be posted separately. For further information please
call 763-8221.
