The Building Committee met
at Longview School in Ellington at 9:00am to do a
site walk of the addition
and renovations to this school, a project of the
architectural firm Moser,
Pilon, Nelson. There was discussion of
the site
plan, procedures used in
doing a renovation/addition project, pre-referendum
work, involving staff in
decisions about teaching during construction, how
students are able to handle
construction phases well, timelines,
pre-planning, the need for a
clerk of the works, and the recommendation that
a vote on the project be
separate from any election. Doug Moser
and
Ellington Superintendent of
Schools Dr. Packman answered questions.
The Building Committee had a
tour of the facility followed by more
discussion. Moser, Pilon, Nelson will attend the
Committee's March 28
meeting for final questions;
some areas to be covered will be suggested
changes to the drawings in
the "Planning the Future" document,
information/experience of
the firm in dealing with the state, and
pre-referendum help from the
firm. Members are encouraged to forward
other
questions ahead of time to
Bill Boutwell or Phil Roland.
The meeting adjourned at
11:00am.
Respectfully submitted,
Joan Formeister, Secretary
