J.O'Brien, D.Pinney
(7:42)
Ex-Officio: B.Boutwell, K.Klein, J.MacFeat
Guests: C.Landolina, D.Moser, H.Pearson
The meeting was called to
order at 7:33 p.m. by Chairman Roland.
Minutes of the April 11,
2002 meeting were approved as presented (Cowles,
Butler).
Somers Town Attorney Carl
Landolina presented the contract between the Town
of Somers and Moser, Pilon,
Nelson Architects. A letter had been
sent to the
Board of Selectmen with a
copy of the contract; the Board gave the Building
Committee the okay to move
ahead with it. Attorney Landolina went
through
the contract with the
committee, and a motion was made (O'Brien), seconded
(Cowles), and approved
unanimously to accept it. A motion was
then made
(O'Brien), seconded
(Butler), and approved unanimously to direct the chairman
to present the contract to
the Board of Selectmen for the First Selectman's
signature.
There was a brief discussion
about where all documents will be kept
concerning the school construction and renovation
process. It was the
consensus that records and
copies will be kept at Central Office.
A draft of a timeline for
pre-referendum tasks was presented by Hugh Pearson,
covering base plan
development, data gathering, meetings with town officials
and administrators, cost
estimates, public presentations, etc.
Phil will
speak with officials at Town
Hall to set up a meeting; Bill will do likewise
with administrators. Building Committee members will be present
at these
meetings.
Doug Moser and Hugh Pearson
went through the plans for the three school
buildings with suggested
revisions to Planning the Future, including the
possibility of a permanent
classroom addition instead of temporary classrooms
at MBA. The architects will work on alternative
ideas for the next meeting.
Next meeting---discussion of
names for the public support group.
Motion to adjourn at 9:15
p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Joan Formeister, Secretary
