The meeting was called to order at 7:12 p.m. by J. Formeister.

Minutes of the May 9, 2002 meeting were approved as presented (Cowles, Broer).

Doug Moser presented some variations to the drawings of the three schools.

There was much discussion about costs, reimbursement, and staying within

project size and scope.

SHS---cafeteria expanded into present faculty room, faculty room moved into

existing Health classroom, Health into new classroom.  First floor---2  new

science labs, one classroom, one large Health room (can be divided or extra

space used for storage), second floor---six new classrooms.  New service

road, watching for wetlands and property line (need updated

information/survey).  Hallways and staircases will be built with future

expansion of eight classrooms possible.

MBA---three options were presented, with and without portable classrooms.

After explanations and discussion, the committee voted No unanimously to

Option A, No unanimously to Option B, and Yes unanimously to Option C with

modifications---switch cafeteria and band/chorus areas, build addition with

classrooms to be used for swing space during construction (no portables

necessary), then ground floor will be converted to central office/BOE space

and there will be a gain of a few permanent classrooms.

SES---after discussion, consensus of committee was to expand cafeteria and

build all new classrooms in one area instead of two.

The contract with Moser, Pilon, Nelson Architects will be signed by the First

Selectman at the May 28 BOS meeting.

A meeting with building administrators and architect to review plans is set

for May 29 and with Somers Building Inspector, Fire Marshall, and architect

May 30.

We need water meters to monitor flow at MBA and new survey of school property

with existing contours, post-SHS construction.

T.Jefferson and B.Boutwell attended some meetings with the state; the high

school construction project audit was just completed and the PREP meeting for

the upcoming construction will be in November.

The meeting on June 13 will start at 7:30 due to the Strategic Plan

celebration.

Motion to adjourn at 8:52 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Joan Formeister, Secretary
