TOWN OF SOMERS
ZONING COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2003
I. PUBLIC HEARINGS:
a. SPECIAL USE PERMIT APPLICATION FOR TEMPORARY
MOBILE HOME FOR EMERGENCY HOUSING, 70 MOUNTAIN VIEW ROAD, CLARK
Chairman Klein opened the public hearing at 7:05pm and Secretary Burnette read the legal notice.
The applicants need a temporary mobile home because a fire has made their primary home uninhabitable. They will live in the mobile home until their home is fixed which they expect to be approximately 6 months. The mobile home will be approximately 50 feet away from the street line in the front yard. Because they need to hook to the existing well and septic, the location of the mobile home is relatively set.
Mr. Richard Jackson, 35 Stillmeadow Lane spoke in favor of the application and stated that the trailer probably won’t be visible from the street because of a heavy cover of trees and brush in the front yard.
At 7:09pm a motion was made by Mrs. Wood, seconded by Mr. Martin, and unanimously voted to close the public hearing.
II. CALL TO ORDER:
The Zoning Commission meeting of March 31, 2003 was called to order by Chairman Klein at 7:10pm. Members Klein, Burnette, Wood, Martin, and Alternate Members Conklin (seated for Sulikowski) and Slater were present and constituted a quorum. Also in attendance was Town Planner Patrice Carson.
III. OLD BUSINESS:
a. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE DECISION: SPECIAL USE PERMIT APPLICATION FOR TEMPORARY
MOBILE HOME FOR EMERGENCY HOUSING, 70 MOUNTAIN VIEW ROAD, CLARK
A motion was made by Mr. Martin and seconded by Mrs. Wood to approve Clark’s Special Use Permit application for a temporary mobile home for emergency housing at 70 Mountain View Road. After some discussion, Mr. Martin amended his motion to add that the approval is immediate and would be valid for six (6) months, at which time the applicant could apply for an extension. Mrs. Wood seconded the amendment. The Commission unanimously approved the amended motion.
