FIRE
MARSHAL:

At their July 28,2003 meeting the Board of Selectman tabled the Fire
Commission approved Continuing Education training request for the Fire Marshal
and Deputy Fire Marshal to attend courses after questioning the need for the
courses. A letter was sent to the
Board explaining the importance of the courses to both the public safety of the
Town of Somers and to maintaining the Fire Marshal’s and Deputy Fire Marshal’s
certification. The Board approved the
training at their 8/11 meeting.

The
Selectmen approved a 3% pay raise for the Fire Marshal and the part-time paid
firefighters.

BUDGET REVIEW:
None
SHIFT
CAPTAIN/SHIFT COMMANDER UPDATE:
·
At their August 11, 2003 meeting
the Board of Selectman approved the Shift Captain/Shift Commander job
description generated by the Fire Commission.
Pay range set by Selectmen was $45,000 to $50,000. The selectmen will post the job
ASAP

The Fire
Commission was authorized by the Board of Selectmen to set up the interview and
recommendation process
NEW BUSINESS:
Welcome new Fire Commissioner Frank Lawlor
ADJOURNMENT:
A motion
to adjourn was made at 7:10 p.m. by Mr. Bruno, seconded by frank Lawlor and
approved unanimously. The next meeting
will be Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 7 pm at the Somers Fire House.
