SOMERS SCHOOL BUILDING
CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE
September
25, 2003
Members
Present: P.Roland, H.Broer,
J.Formeister, J.Persano, J.O’Brien
Ex-Officio: B.Boutwell
Others: M.Beaulieu, H.Pearson, T.McNeill
The meeting
was called to order at 7:30pm by Chairman Roland. It was noted that no votes will be taken tonight, as the
Secretary did not post the meeting on time.
M.Beaulieu
reported on the meeting with the State Facilities Unit with SHS plans on
9/16/03. Copies of the “Plan Completion
Test Sheet” were distributed, with incomplete items listed. She will meet 9/26/03 with the SFU to
address these items. From that date, the
State estimates 30-45 days for their review to be completed. A code modification is requested to omit
sprinkler heads in ductwork from the fume hoods. This exhaust duct will extend 10 feet above the roof to met code. A meeting will be planned with Building
Inspector, Fire Marshall, and Town Planner after the final submission to the
State. Indoor Air Quality certification
is now necessary, since passage of P.A. 03-220. MPN is working with David Wedge at the SFU, since these plans
were nearly complete when the bill was passed.
The engineers noted an existing code violation at SHS---the area of
refuge at the stair from the Wrestling Room is lacking sprinkler heads. The Building Committee will determine
whether work should be included in this project or done separately under
capital improvements.
SES---no changes
at this point. To the State 11/18, need
BOE approval.
MBA---minor
changes in plans were reviewed. A
suggestion was made to make the back (student) entrance look nicer, within
budget.
The Town
Attorney is supposed to have the bid document back to the committee this week,
at which time J.Butler and T.Cowles will review it.
Correspondence---2
letters from the Christopher Laux, State Building Inspector, regarding SHS and
SES and the Plumbing Modification requests, which were approved.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:05pm.
Respectfully
submitted,
Joan
Formeister, Secretary
