The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chairman Roland.

SHS---no news from the state.  The only outstanding item—the State Building Inspector just rejected a waiver concerning flammable chemicals used in labs, though our local Fire Marshall and Building Inspector approved it.  Analysis from our Science Dept. is needed and the mechanical engineer is also working on this.

SES---Marshalling yard for both SES and SHS was discussed, also hydrant location per request Fire Marshall.  D.Moser presented copies pf Cost Estimate, Additions & Alterations to SES.  All plans were reviewed.  The BOE needs to review and approve SES plans with signature of BOE Chair at their 11/10/03 meeting.  Plans will be available at CO for anyone who wants to look at them.  A motion was made (Cowles) and seconded (Broer) to approve final plans and specifications for SES dated 10/23/03 for submission to the State for their review and approval, passed unanimously.  The Superintendent and Building Committee Chairman signed plans tonight.  Meeting with State is 11/18/03, 9am.

Comments were received from the Town Attorney concerning the bid document. D.Moser will provide the committee with bullets of items to be included.  Discussion about having an attorney familiar with school construction take a quick look at our document to be sure there is nothing missing.  The committee agreed P.Roland should pursue this.

Enrollment projections from the State dated 10/20/03 were briefly discussed; increases are projected.

Progress payments from the State---every 2 months or so B.Boutwell submits to the State to receive progress payments.  Of $387,000 in costs, the Town has received $173,000.

A letter was read from First Selectman Jackson to Paula Pierce regarding Acting Building Official for school projects and a letter from Att’y Landolina regarding review of Project manual for SHS.
