The meeting
was called to order at 7:34pm by J.Formeister.
SHS---Testing
Labs: discussion of services and labor rates, proposals submitted by IMTL, MT Group,
Tri-State. A motion was made (O’Brien),
seconded (Cowles), and unanimously approved to accept IMTL as testing lab.
As shown on
drawing dated 4/16/04, fiber optic and electrical telephone cables need to be re-located. As an offset, water line does not need to be
re-located.
A memo from
MPN dated 4/13/04 regarding FF&E was discussed. Estimates are lower than budgeted; the “loose lab equipment” may
be higher than estimates.
Discussion
Media Center expansion: questions were raised about Media Center usage/need for
expansion, cost vs other needs. A motion
for a study sub-committee to do in-depth needs analysis of Media Center,
K.Klein, J.Formeister, T.Cowles, report by 5/27/04, approved unanimously
(O’Brien, Broer). The Building
Committee needs to make a decision by June about including expansion of Media
Center in SHS project
SES---bids: Nutmeg $1,837,711; Enfield Builders
$1,898,000; Mountford and La Rosa both $1,918,000. Budget is $1,829,050 with 5% contingency. There was a review of bids and discussion of
contractors’ experience with schools, sizes of prior projects, whom to contact
for references.
FF&E
memo dated 4/14/04 was reviewed; estimates are lower than budgeted.
A Special
Meeting will be held May 6, 2004, 7:30pm, MBA Conference Room. A decision on a contractor will be made,
possibly a report from the Media Center Study sub-committee, discussion of MBA
and development of sub-committees.
