SOMERS SCHOOL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE
October 14, 2004
Members
Present: J.Persano, J.Formeister,
T.Cowles, J.MacFeat, K.Klein,
J.Butler (8:31pm)
Others: D.Moser, E.Zahner
The meeting
was called to order at 7:33pm by Vice-Chairman J.Persano.
MBA---A
motion was made (Klein), seconded (Cowles), and unanimously approved to submit
MBA and Central Office drawings and plans to the SFU for review, state
#1290035BE-EA (C.O.) and #1290033EA-RNV (renovations).
FF&E
Cost Estimate Rev.1 for MBA and minutes from the tech meeting 10/6/04 were
distributed.
The Special
Ed temporary office space at SES falls under the MBA/CO project (CO move
budget); there was much discussion about the cooling unit for this area. A price of $5-7000 is estimated, and the
committee asked that an individual wall/window unit be used instead. We will go with the contract drawings as
they are. Inserting a unit will require
a change order.
SES---revised
figures from Enfield Builders for cafeteria expansion were discussed, Option B,
$160,000 plus $5750 for winter heat and protection, additional drawings,
ordering materials and re-mobilization.
D.Moser stated B.Boutwell’s figures show $244,000 left in SES budget
(before cafeteria). Consensus of committee was to wait and vote at next
meeting, after Chairman and others have reviewed costs and spoken with Enfield
Builders.
T.Cowles
stated Greg Genlot, who is doing mechanical work, has asked why Enfield
Builders has not paid him; the Town has paid its bills to Enfield.
E.Zahner
stated the roof will be in by the end of next week, addition will be closed in
within 3 weeks, inside mechanicals are done.
SHS---discussion
of roof lines. E.Zahner stated this was
known “several weeks ago”, questioned why Chairman needed to be informed,
stated progress on SHS has not been slowed down because of this issue, said it
is All-Phase’s problem and they have been working with Steel Fabricators (who
will cover any expense). Committee
feels E.Zahner and others need to speak with Chairman to clarify when he should
be notified of problems.
The 2
floors are in, sprinklers are in, outside walls are going up, working on winter
procedures now.
Bills---requisition
from Enfield Builders, lien waivers have not been checked, no vote taken.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:34pm.
Respectfully
submitted,
Joan
Formeister, Secretary
