EDC Minutes

December 6, 2004

Call to Order

 

Chairman Louis Bachetti called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

 

Attendance

 

Members present were Louis Bachetti, Richard Cheney, Maura Gardiner  Robert Schmidt, and David Reed.  Absent was Ed Jekot.

 

Approval of Minutes

 

Motion by Maura Gardiner and seconded by Richard Cheney that the minutes of the November 1, 2004 meeting be approved without change.  The motion passed.  Voting in favor of the motion were Lou Bachetti, Robert Schmidt, David Reed, Richard Cheney, and Maura Gardiner.

 

Correspondence

 

None

 

Reports

 

 

Town Guide for Citizens - Permits and Applications - Maura Gardiner will continue to revise the narrative for the booklet and develop a flow chart matrix of application procedures.  David Reed will assist her in this process.

 

Abatement Project – EDC is waiting to hear from the Planning Commission about a meeting with EDC members Robert Schmidt and Maura Gardiner.

 

Tourism Development Discussion

    

 a. A preliminary list of tourist attractions, activities, and suggested       activities in Somers has been completed by Chairman Bachetti.

 

            b. Rick Cheney will develop a list of historic homes in Somers and

          report back to the committee.

 

 

A motion was made to approve the EDC meeting schedule for 2005 by David Reed, seconded by Maura Gardiner.  Approved unanimously.  (See attachment.)

           

Chairman’s Report – Lou Bachetti

 

1.    The mill project is progressing, work on appropriate studies and applications will continue.

2.    The 27 Quality Avenue building renovations are proceeding. The building is under new ownership and it’s first tenant will be  ZAC-DAC, a software company.   Other spaces available from 1,500 to 7,000 sq. ft.

3.    Discussions occurred with a company that sells and services safes.  This company is looking for space in town.

4.    Palate Pleasers will be going out of business after the first of the year.

5.    Development of the Donut Shop is continuing.

 

Adjournment

 

Motion to adjourn was made by David Reed, seconded by Maura Gardiner and was unanimously approved.  The meeting was officially adjourned at 9:05.
