drivers who go to warmer climate. If
you know of anyone interested, see Jim Burgess.
Senior Center – Myrtle Pixley reported that 103 seniors have signed
up for the Christmas Party. Favors have
been donated. Center has been
beautifully decorated for the holiday season.
The Executive Board has
tabled a discussion on the existing newsletter until a later date.
Cost of Wednesday luncheons
provided by Patsun Caterers may be going up.
Myrtle is checking with other caterers for a cost comparison. More information will follow.
Senior Lunches – The next scheduled luncheon is in February.
OLD BUSINESS:
Dora Randall and Norma Keeney have declined staying on the Advisory Board for another year. Pat Bachetti and Donna Doyker will serve as their replacements.
Jim Burgess responded to the use of the building for private functions. He felt this was a town building and should not be used privately. David Pinney is going to look into this further and advise us of what he finds out.
NEW BUSINESS:
Len Slaga and Jim Burgess have put together a draft of a Resource Service Guide for the Somers seniors. They are looking for input as to what changes need to be made and how this guide can better serve us. Feel free to present them with your ideas. One idea was to use larger print to make this guide easier to read. Information could be presented as to emergency data, local data, state and national data, etc.
A display of commonly used forms will be installed at the senior center for help-yourself use.
A 2005 schedule of Advisory Committee meetings was given to the members.
A discussion was held about the Senior Summit recently held at the Town Hall. Many people were in attendance and a lot of ideas were thrown around. One of the ones we are able to help with is communication. Barbara Flebotte will head a committee to look into ways to improve the newsletter and provide better communication to the seniors in Somers. The Advisory Board will be members of this committee as well as any interested volunteers. A meeting has been tentatively scheduled for January 18th at two o’clock at the Senior Center for interested parties.
