There was discussion of all items listed on MPN’s Addendum #4-Delete Alternates for Re-Bid 2/22/05, MBA.

Item2--Lightwells in cafeteria a necessity and will remain.

Item5--Band/Choral rooms---consensus to switch rooms used for Band and Chorus, moving band storage cabinets to other room, areas will still be renovated, stage remains.  Estimated savings of $150,000, pending design changes.

Item6--Canopies---debate about need for real entrances to school and aesthetic features vs cost and need to save money.  Front canopy (parent drop-off area) will remain in plan with possible design changes, bus loop canopy will be stand-alone alternate.

Item8--not recommended, concrete curbs will remain.

Item 16—parking at upper level will remain in.

Item 23--N.Barry explained need for upper cabinets in science and art rooms, will remain.

Item27--Landscaping budget for courtyard---discussion of need, upkeep, dropped to $2000.

Item 29---sidewalks/landscaping dropped, driveway improvements for safety vehicles in back of building to remain, estimated cost $10,000.

Item1—N.Barry feels present system of trash removal and deliveries is disruptive and inefficient and would keep this item in.  After discussion it was decided to have this as a stand-alone alternate.

Items 31, 32—shelving and gym floor, will remain in plan.

All other items were agreed upon as presented.

A motion was made (O’Brien), seconded (Cowles), and unanimously approved to go out for re-bid on 2/22/05 for MBA/CO with estimated net savings of $418,000 as listed on Addendum #4 with changes noted.  The legal notice will be given to First Selectman Pinney and Ann Logan, Town Clerk on 2/18/05.  Non-mandatory walk-through will be 2/28/05 at 3pm and bids will be opened 3/8/05 at 2pm in Town Hall.

Motion to adjourn at 9:15pm.

Respectfully submitted,
