Communications/Senior Newsletter – Barbara Flebotte reported that various avenues of having the newsletter printed/folded/mailed are being looked into but none appear appropriate for our needs.  We will continue to handle this process ourselves for the time being.  Newsletter mailings may need to be changed to every other month due to town budget cuts.  Latest senior news would continue to appear in the Journal Inquirer, North Central News and Somersnow.com.  Newsletters will not be going out for the months of July and August and will resume for the month of September.

OLD BUSINESS:

Board Meeting Dates - Subject of holding Advisory Board meetings in July and August was discussed.  It was decided that no meetings would be held these two months unless a special meeting has to be called by the Municipal Agent.

Assignments for Board Members - Duties of advisory board members were also discussed.  Pat Bachetti will review the assignments for board members with Jim Burgess.  Donna Doyker volunteered to update the sign in front of the senior center – near the road – of upcoming events.

Agenda Items – No new agenda items were presented to M/A Jim Burgess for inclusion in our meeting.

Member replacement - Replacement is needed for former member Alice D’Arcy.  Several prospects are under consideration.  It is also hoped that  Arlene Yarnes will reconsider her letter of resignation now that her personal situation has changed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Somers Code 5-17 – Review was done on the remaining items not previously discussed.  It was determined that income tax assistance should be tried at the Senior Center.  Most other items under discussion are currently covered.  We will need to review a little further in the fall.

COMMENTS:

Jim Burgess announced that a flu clinic will be held at the senior center on October 25 from 1:30 to 4:30.  A hearing test clinic is also being planned.  No date known at this time.

Newsletter editor Barbara Flebotte received a letter from Thomas Jefferson, Superintendent of Schools, with contact names from the various schools and a listing of various programs currently in place where seniors might help out.  Donna Doyker volunteered to be a contact point for the school members.  She will coordinate with Myrtle Pixley.
