December 8, 2005
Members Present: P.Roland, H.Broer, K.Klein, J.Formeister,
J.MacFeat, J.Butler
Others: D.Moser, E.Zahner
The meeting was called to
order at 7:35pm by Chairman Roland.
Minutes of the 11/10/05
meeting were unanimously approved as presented with one correction, page 2,
third paragraph, delete “unanimously” (Klein, Butler).
Comment was made that there
is still no critical path schedule provided to us.
SHS---grass did not take
this fall. Waiting for credit on some
cabinets.
SES---slab is fixed. Seeding, locker tops not yet done. Leak through HVAC unit in extreme rain,
installing some sheet metal may rectify.
MBA/CO---re-use of bleachers
discussed, logistics of moving, need for bleachers at SES. Four new sets (one side) coming on
12/19/05. Original intent was to give
old bleachers to the school system.
Motion was made (Broer), seconded (Klein), and approved (one opposed,
Formeister) to demolish old bleachers.
Gym divider---old one works
but needs refurbishment, it is sturdier and more of a barrier than one in plan,
staff prefers keeping it. Estimate of
$14,600 to totally refurbish; new one $12,000 including installation, removal
of old one, etc. Motion unanimously
approved to upgrade old gym divider, pending P.Roland confirming with
administration and staff that they do want old one (Butler, Broer).
Discussion of old, unused
gas pipes and whether to leave them or remove them as tabled last month. Motion passed to leave pipes, as there is no
code violation (Klein, Butler; one opposed, MacFeat).
Tiles on floor of entry
foyer area---$3891.89 to upgrade to porcelain.
Motion unanimously passed to stay with tiles in original plan (Broer,
Butler).
Letter read from H.Pearson
to Chairman concerning FF&E.
Proposal/budget went to SFU 11/30/05, their comments have been addressed
by the district, MPN, and consultants.
State is looking for updated Eligible/ineligible cost worksheets; then
those costs will be waived due to Renovate as New status. Will go out to bid in January.
Discussion of relocating
electrical panel and transformer unit to closet, quoted $2530 to move. Consensus to leave it as per specs; if EBI
wants to move it they may---with no additional expense for us.
Estimate of $4000 from EBI
to paint existing brick walls between old building and addition, stairwell,
corridors. After walking through the
area, consensus of the Committee was not to paint these walls.
Walt Summers has stated there
should be smoke barriers in ducts in temporary classrooms. Issue has been sent
to the State for an opinion.
Question about E.Zahner’s
wages for MBA/CO discussed. P.Roland
will look into this with B.Boutwell.
Chairman Roland shared comments
about Doug Moser’s work with the Committee, as Doug is retiring and this was
his last meeting with us. It was noted
what quality service he has given and how pleased we have been to work with
him. The Committee wished him well.
