SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

 JANUARY 3, 2006

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:10

Fire Tanker:

 

The committee of Fire Officers formed to review specifications and bids for the proposed tanker made a brief presentation to the BOS and the FC.

It had been the recommendation of the committee and the Fire Commission to accept bids for the Kenworth Truck, radios and other equipment which exceeded the budgeted amount by approx. $60,000.  The original budget proposal was submitted in 2001-2002 to the CIP committee and adjustments were not made to account for inflation.  The committee had reviewed all proposals and opted for the least expensive combination of truck, radio and equipment that met the communities need.

 

Time was also a factor since the current bids were scheduled to expire before Feb. 1.  A ninety day delay in the initial bid process (which resulted in only one bid) resulted in a $15,000 + increase in costs.

 

It was determined that the recommended proposal would be forwarded to the Board of Finance for expedited review and approval.  The proposal would then be submitted to a Town Meeting for approval.  It was the hope of the Tanker Committee, The Fire Commission and the members of the Board of Selectmen present that all approvals would be received before the expiration of the current bids.
