Louis Bachetti called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.
Members
present were Louis Bachetti, Maura
Gardiner, Robert Schmidt, and Richard
Cheney. Absent was David Reed and Ron
Elliott.
Motion by Maura Gardiner and seconded by Richard Cheney that the minutes of the December 5, 2005 meeting be approved without change. The motion passed. Voting in favor of the motion were Lou Bachetti, Robert Schmidt, Richard Cheney, and Maura Gardiner.

Results of the Business Questionnaire – Richard Cheney
Forty-two responses have been received to date. After discussion of the responses it was
decided to pursue the feasibility of a business after hours function in the
spring. Maura Gardiner will contact
Director Larry Tracy of the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. She will ask him to come to the next EDC
meeting.
EDC members were assigned responsibility for the
commission’s 2006 goals:
Implementation of remaining EDC recommendations from
the Plan of Conversation and Development – Maura Gardiner & Robert Schmidt
Supporting local business and industry – Rick Cheney, Ron Elliott,
& Robert Schmidt
Promoting Somers Tourism – David Reed
Support new business development activities – Lou Bachetti & David
Reed
Expand interaction with other town boards and
commissions
– all commission members
Continue to construct a Town of Somers economic
development
plan – Maura Gardiner
Chairman’s Report – Lou Bachetti
The Somers Design Review Committee for private
businesses will issue a final report in February 2006.
Motion to adjourn was made by Maura Gardiner, seconded by Richard Cheney and was unanimously approved. The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:20.
