EDC Minutes

FEBRUARY 6, 2006

Selectmen’s Conference Room

Call to Order

 

Member Maura Gardiner called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. David Reed; Vice Chairman presided over the meeting.

 

Attendance

 

Members present were Maura Gardiner, David Reed, Richard Cheney and Ron Elliott. Louis Bachetti and Robert Schmidt were absent. Mr. Larry Tracy, Executive Director of the North Central Chamber of Commerce, was also in attendance.

 

Approval of Minutes

 

Motion by Ron Elliott and seconded by Maura Gardiner that the minutes of the January 9, 2006 meeting be approved without change.  The motion passed.  Voting in favor of the motion were David Reed, Richard Cheney, Ron Elliott and Maura Gardiner.

 

Guest Speaker

 

Larry Tracy spoke to the group on the history of the North Central Chamber of Commerce and explained the benefits of belonging to the Association. Larry spent considerable time expressing the benefits of networking and how the Association can, and has helped the businesses that are members. The Commission will discuss the possibility of having Larry back again, in the spring, to address the businesses in town on the many benefits associated with membership.

 

Correspondence

 

The vice chairman noted that he had received notification from member, Robert Schmidt that he would not be in attendance.

Chairman’s Report – Vice Chairman, David Reed

 

 David, after having attended a portion of the Selectmen’s meeting earlier, gave the group an update on what was being considered by the Selectmen concerning the establishment of a Design Review Committee and other issues being considered to entice businesses to relocate to the community.

David also explained that he will be visiting the businesses in town to educate them as to how they can be part of the Somersnow.com internet environment.

 

Adjournment

 

Motion to adjourn was made by Richard Cheney seconded by Maura Gardiner and was unanimously approved.  The meeting was officially adjourned at 8: 42 p. m.
