CHARTER REVISION COMMITTEE
TOWN HALL

Present: Alyson Vecchiarelli, Chair, members Jordan Chatis, Bill Kirkpatrick, Brad Pellissier, and Janet Starr; First Selectman David Pinney, Selectman Ernie Allsup, and Town Clerk Ann Logan
Call to Order: Chair Alyson Vecchiarelli called the meeting to order at 6:55.
A motion was made seconded, and passed unanimously to change the order of agenda to amend the minutes of the previous meeting now instead of after the public hearing.
Approval of Minutes: A motion was made, seconded, and passed unanimously to approve the minutes of May 9, 2006.
Adjourn to Public Hearing: A motion was made seconded and passed unanimously recess in order to hold the public hearing.
Reconvene Meeting of Charter Revision Committee: A motion was made seconded and passed unanimously to reconvene the Charter Revision Committee.
Discussion re: Input from Public Hearing: The committee constructed a prospective schedule to discuss the items in the charge from the selectmen and any items brought up at the public hearing.
May 16th Language changes / Finance questions / Elimination of Board of Assessors
May 23rd Elimination of Constables / Party affiliation and vacancy /
Confirmation of appointees to certain boards
May 30 Begin discussions of election vrs. appointment of treasurer, town clerk,
and tax collector
Alyson will contact those affected parties and provide them with some idea of the sort of information we will be seeking.
Each committee member will research two towns for information about the status of treasurer, town clerk, and tax collector: 1) appointed or elected (length of terms)? 2) last charter revision and outcome on election or appointment issues for these jobs?
