Library Board Subcommittee – Long Rang Planning Meeting

May 25, 2006

 

Chairperson Lois Lindell called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. Other members present were Joe Scherr, Walt McCarthy, Patrice Carson, Donna Sepe, Library Director Francine Aloisa, & Shirley Warner (ex-officio). The Chair appointed Shirley Warner to take minutes in the absence of the secretary, Dee Moak.

 

Minutes of the May 4th meeting were corrected for typographical errors and approved by consensus.

 

Donna Sepe made the motion that the current Mission Statement stand as is. Second by Joe Scherr. Discussion followed, approved unanimously.

 

In a review of Role One of the Long Range Plan proposal, several goals with objectives were inserted.

 

The following Vision Statement was proposed:

            Our vision for the Somers Public Library is to become the library of choice for

residents who want outstanding collections, programs and services in a

pleasant, friendly and courteous environment.

Patrice Carson made the motion to approve this Vision Statement, Second by Donna Sepe, approved unanimously.

 

Goals related to Role Two were discussed and reworked for inclusion in the Long Range Plan. Goals related to Role Three were also discussed and reworked. It was suggested that objectives related to salary schedules be removed from Role Three and established separately.

 

We will continue reviewing Roles Four and Five at the next meeting, to be held Thursday, June 22 at 10 a.m. in the Library Board Room.
