CHARTER REVISION COMMITTEE

June 13, 2006 7:30 PM

Present: Chair Alyson Vecchiarelli, Vice Chair Jordan Chatis, members Bill Kirkpatrick, and Janet Starr. Absent: Brad Pellissier

Call to Order: Chair Alyson Vecchiarelli called the meeting to order at 7:32.

Approval of Minutes: The minutes of 6/6/06 were unanimously approved.

Public Comment: None

Confirmation of Appointments at Town Meeting:

We will look at Brad’s proposed change at our next meeting when he will be present.

Review of Draft Report:

We reviewed the draft report to make sure that it accurately copied the changes as recorded in the minutes. A motion was made seconded, and passed unanimously to make the following changes in section 5.3 (superceding the change made by the CRC on 6/6/06).

From… The number of members of any one political party who be appointed to any appointive board shall not exceed the number prescribed by General statutes. If a person vacating an appointive board was appointed as member of a political party, the vacancy shall be filled by a member of the same political party

To… If a person vacating an appointive board or commission was appointed as a member of a political party, the vacancy shall be filled by a member of the same political party; or if no such person can be found within 30 days, the vacancy may be filled by any eligible person so long as the number of any one political party on the board does not exceed the number prescribed by the General Statutes.

Public Comment: None

Discussion of Tasks

• For the meeting on June 20

Alyson will put together a rationale for wording changes for the following sections: 2.2, 4.6, 5.2a, 5.2b, 6.8e, 7.1d.

Gordon and Bill will submit rationales for changes in the other sections: 2.1b, 3.1, 4.4b, 4.4d, 5.3, Chapter 5, 6.7b, 7.1a, 7.1b, 7.7. Those rationales will be forwarded to other CRC members for review.

Brad and Janet will submit rationales for any that they see a need to add to.

• The public hearing will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 20.

• The CRC will meet at 6:30 in the conference room and after the hearing.

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:43.
