RECREATION COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

Monday, 6:00 PM, June 26, 2006

Somers Community Center

I. CALL TO ORDER: At 6:20 PM by Tom Chilicki

MEMBERS PRESENT: Tom Chilicki, Alan Walker, Pam Coverdill, JJ Wassmuth

MEMBERS ABSENT: Chris Meunier, Ed Palomba, John Bartolf

AUDIENCE: David Pinney, Kathy Devlin, Kurt Swan (Somers Playground Committee).

lI. AUDIENCE: Discussion was held on the installation of the new playground, including the need for funding for $7,000 for wood chips due to the STEAP Grant not being approved. The recreation commission was asked to appropriate funds from our budget to offset the costs so the new playground equipment could be used.

lll. BILLS/PURCHASES: Reviewed (as forwarded by Jen Charette).

lV. REPORTS:

A. Park Projects: The commission endorsed the use of our remaining fiscal budget (approximately $1,000) to be used to offset the purchase of wood chips for the new playground, as well as to donate funds from our Keeney Foundation money (to be hopefully replaced if the STEAP Grant is eventually approved). Tom Chilicki will attend the BOF meeting after this special meeting to review the amounts with the BOF and BOS.

B. Budgets: Reviewed (as forwarded by Jen Charette).

V. NEW BUSINESS:

A. Summer Camp Registration and Staff: Budget 2006-07: No update.

Jen Charette will update the commission at the July meeting.

B. Long Range Recreational Study: No update. Jen Charette to follow-up with request to provide organizational data.

VI. COORDINATOR'S REPORT: Reviewed (as forwarded by Jen Charette).

Vll. ADJOURNMENT: The commission adjourned at 7:03 PM.
