George VanTasel made a motion to approve the October 24, 2006 minutes, as written. This motion was seconded by Steve Getman and unanimously approved.
Charles Colby, Vice-Chairman, took over as Chairman for the meeting.
III. Goodwin
Drive – Proposed Sewer Main Extension
Steve Jacobs presented the surveys of the two sewer easements. Based on design numbers, it looks like the original numbers will work. The easement surveys will be sent to the property owners for their approval. Steve Jacobs has been working on the sewer system design which will be ready for the next WPCA meeting.
A discussion was held about the three homes that probably will have to use a pump system to connect to the sewer line. Most of the homes can use gravity feed. A public hearing will be needed to approve the sewer main and expand the service area. There will be fifteen properties – possibly seventeen – to connect. The project should be put out to bid to see what our costs will be. There is an adjacent large piece of rather wet property that could connect to the sewer line should the owner of the property want to do so. Members of the Authority were pleased with Steve Jacobs’ report.
IV. Sunset
Drive – TCP Contamination
There was an informational hearing with the DEP and the residents on 10/24/06 and there has been some talk about whether we should write up the consent order and proceed. Steve Getman made a motion to extend the water line on Sunset Drive to solve the pollution problem. This motion was seconded by Jim Faust and unanimously approved.

Steve Jacobs reported that Paul Rosenfold from UCLA talked to him about a class action lawsuit against manufacturers of TCP. Steve told him that usually, the DEP steps in and solves a water contamination problem in Somers. Steve told him he should contact the DEP for any further discussion of the water problem.
V. Somersville
WPCF – Expansion Update
Mike Mocko sent a new design to the DEP of the UV disinfection unit, and apparently they are still not satisfied. Steve Jacobs told Mike Mocko that he had to get together with the UV disinfection unit manufacturer to come up with a solution that is agreeable to the DEP. This is the only thing holding us up from going out to bid. George VanTasel said we should have this resolved by the next WPCA meeting on December 5, 2006.
