Call to Order

Chairman Lou Bachetti called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.

Attendance

Members present were, Louis Bachetti, David Reed, Robert Schmidt, Ron Elliott, and Maura Gardiner. Richard Cheney was absent.

Approval of Minutes

Motion by Maura Gardiner and seconded by David Reed that the minutes of the November 6, 2006 meeting be approved without change. The motion passed. Voting in favor of the motion were David Reed, Robert Schmidt, Louis Bachetti, Ron Elliott, Maura Gardiner.

Correspondence

The Chairman mentioned that a Town meeting concerning the discontinuance of a road in Somers is being held on Tuesday December 5, 2006 at 7:00.

Updates/ projects

Tourism:

David Reed reported that he the tourism brochure is now available on the Somers web site. Also that he had contacted the hockey tournament chairman and asked that he distribute the brochures along with the informational packet that the tournament chairman will be sending to potential participants.

After five business event:

Rick Cheney will be distributing a newsletter to the local businesses as a follow-up to the initial kick off meeting that was held earlier this past fall.

Preferred business discussion

No report.

Business Directory

Jeanne Reed has completed the task of initially contacting all business in town concerning the collection of key business information and to solicit their participation in advertising in the new edition of the directory. Jeanne will next following up with those businesses that have expressed an interest in participating. As a result of the calling, Jeanne was also able to further refine the list of active businesses. Key dates for this project are end of December for ad participating, end of January for print copy and end of February for the distribution of the business directory.

Way finder sign project

Bob Schmidt reviewed the towns current legislation and discussion followed. It was agreed that the members of the EDC email to Bob their suggestions as to the format structure that the signs should or could follow.

Approval of 2007 meeting dates

The chairman presented the proposed meeting schedule for fiscal 2007. Maura Gardiner made a motion to accept the dates and was seconded by David Reed. The dates were approved unanimously.

Update Somersville study committee

David Reed reported the committee is proceeding in selecting a design firm.

Establish 2007 EDC goals

The chairman reviewed the preliminary goals for 2007 and asked that the group to provide him with any additions, deletions or changes within the next two weeks.

Chairman’s Report:

It was reported that there is considerable interest on the Somersville mill development project and that matters are proceeding.

Adjournment

Motion to adjourn was made by Maura Gardener seconded by David Reed and was unanimously approved. The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:27 p. m.
