1. Call to Order:
Chairman David Reed called
meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
- Members Present:
David Reed, Ron Elliott,
Karl Walton, Jill Conklin, Ann Levesque
- Members Absent:
Barry Moynihan, Bob
Lapadula, and Pat Kennedy
- Minutes of last meeting on January 4, 2007 were approved.
- Correspondence – none
- Members of Somers Historical Society were in attendance to give
committee an historical perspective in the Somersville area. Elaine
Bemont spoke on the history of the neighborhood as she remembers it for
the last 66 years; Barbara Pellissier Anderson, Carol Pine and Paul Keeney
also spoke of the area. Trolley, Somersville fabric mill and that
the mill encompassed and the blacksmith shop, as well as close knit
sense of community were a large part of these discussions.
- A member of the Somersville Congregational Church, Sharon Miller,
attended to speak about the church and the Congregational Green on the
corner of Main and Maple Streets. The purchase of the Green is an
important part of this church.
- Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. by mutual consent.
