MINUTES
- CALL
TO ORDER
Co-Chairman, David Olsen, called the meeting to
order at 6:30 p.m. in the Assessor’s Office, 600 Main Street, Somers,
Connecticut. Also present were Robert
Loubier, Co-Chairman and Patricia J. Juda, Assessor .
- APPROVAL
OF MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF DECEMBER 7, 2006.
Bob Loubier made a motion to
approve the minutes of the December 7, 2006 meeting. This motion was seconded by Dave Olsen and unanimously approved.
- DISCUSS
FY 2007/2008 BUDGET
Robert Loubier made a motion to approve the
2007/2008 budget as presented. This
motion was seconded by Dave Olsen and
unanimously approved.
- ASSESSOR’S
OFFICE REPORT
- Somers’
2006 Grand List was signed and filed with Somers’ Town Clerk on January
31, 2007. The list grew 1.35%,
totaling 744,271,226, generating an additional $209,259 of revenue at the
current mill rate.
- 234
real estate increase notices and
201 personal property increase notices were mailed February 8th,
2007.
- Elderly
and disabled homeowners receiving tax benefits are require to reapply
bi-annually. Notices were sent on
January 31 informing those taxpayers that it is their year to reapply,
the deadline for applying is May 15th.
- February’s
sales ratios were mailed to the State on March 1. Sales ratios for December, January and
February were .60, .59 & .54 respectively.

The Board of Assessment Appeals is scheduled to meet on
March 12. Eight taxpayers have filed an
application for an appeal.
- Report
of Manufacturing Machinery & Commercial Motor Vehicle exemptions
(M-65) was filed with the State on March 5, 2007. (Due date March 15th).
- Report
of State owned property (M-37) was filed with the State on March 1. (Due date April 1.)
- We
placed a survey on the counter, for people to sign if they desired to see
Somers’ assessor’s records back online.
To date, we have received 144 signatures.
Bob made a motion to accept the Assessor’s
report. Dave seconded the motion. This motion was unanimously approved.
- BILLS
TO BE PAID
Bob made a motion to approve the following bills for
payment:
- NEBS (receipt books) $139.76
- Quality
Data, 2nd half services $900.00
- CAAO
– 4 memberships $200.00
- HAAA $ 20.00
- W B
Mason $ 13.73
Dave seconded this motion. This motion was unanimously approved.
- 6:50
p.m. Adjourned to meet with the Board of Finance regarding the 2007/2008
budget.
- 7:20
p.m. Opened meeting back up. No
further business discussed.
- ADJOURNMENT
Bob made a motion to adjourn the Board of Assessor’s
meeting at 7:21 p.m.. Motion seconded
by Dave. Motion unanimously approved.
