Call to Order

 

Vice Chairman David Reed called the meeting to order at 7:22 p.m.

 

Attendance

 

Members present were David Reed, Robert Schmidt, Ron Elliott and Maura Gardiner. Richard Cheney and Louis Bachetti were absent.

 

Approval of Minutes

 

Motion by Maura Gardiner and seconded by Robert Schmidt that the minutes of the January 8, 2007 meeting be approved without change.  The motion passed.  Voting in favor of the motion were David Reed, Robert Schmidt, Ron Elliott and Maura Gardiner.

 

Correspondence

 

In the latest communication from CROG there was an article concerning a pedestrian/ bicycling meeting and that David Reed will be talking with them.

 

Updates/ projects

 

 

 

Somers Business Steering Committee

 

Ron Elliott reported that the Somers business steering committee met at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of Town Hall. The co chairs of the steering committee presented the questionnaire and the “Business After Hours” meeting flyer that will be distributed to the businesses in town. The next after hours meeting is scheduled for Monday April 2 and will be held at Cedar Knob beginning at 5 P.M. Ron Elliott is to provide the steering committee with a list of the businesses in town so that the group can print labels and attach to the mailings. The co chairs of the steering committee are finalizing the agenda for the “After Hours Meeting”.

Business Directory

 

David Reed reported that the directory contents are currently at the printers and that a couple of businesses have not sent back their final proofs. David also mentioned that he is still awaiting the design proof for the cover and the Chairman’s message insert that Lou Bachetti is to provide. Distribution will follow after the above items have been completed.

 

Continue discussion regarding Re-Use of Somersville Mill

 

David Reed opened the discussion concerning alternative uses for the mill with a slide show of pictures of the mill. Discussion of assumptions, options and mechanisms followed with the ultimate goal of preparing the group’s formal response to the Selectmen. The commission’s request for response will be issued in mid to late March.

Adjournment

 

Motion to adjourn was made by Robert Schmidt seconded by Maura Gardener and was unanimously approved.  The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:30 p. m.
