Minutes of Meeting on Thursday, March 15, 2007

 

 

Members present:  David Reed, Barry Moynihan, Karl Walton, Everett Morrill, Ron Elliott, Pat Kennedy, and Ann Levesque.  Also present, Dave Pinney and Aris Stalis from BCS Group

 

Members absent:  Robert Lapadula and Jill Conklin

 

1.  Call to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairman Reed.  Minutes of Public Hearing on Wednesday, March 7th, 2007 approved, except for larger attendance noted of 50 people, rather than 35 mentioned in the minutes.

 

  1. Review was made of the Public Hearing Comments as follows:
    1. Lack of parking sites near businesses and churches
    2. Blighted areas or buildings in some areas of the triangle (i.e. Main, Maple and School Streets), especially near the Mill area
    3. The future of the Mill needs to be addressed before any of the streetscape be addressed
    4. Streetscape implementation would create an improvement to the area and provide opportunities for private owners to upgrade their properties
    5. Concern for the safety, amount and speed of traffic going through the triangle area.

 

  1. Discussed future planning directions as presented by Aris in the designs and maps created by BCS Group, which were based upon public and committee inputs.

 

  1. Committee provided general options desired from the presentation made by Aris.

 

  1. Chairman made comments on the options, the possible future of the Mill as well as other buildings in the area.

 

  1. Chairman Reed requests that committee members think more about the plans presented by Aris/BCS and that they e-mail David Reed before the next meeting to let him know each member’s own thoughts in more detail on the different ideas presented in this evening’s presentation.

 

  1. Next meeting of this committee on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 7 p.m.

 

  1. Meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
