      II.

MINUTES AT LAST MEETING: Minutes of June 4 were not available; the July meeting was cancelled

III.               Billings and Purchases: None submitted for review; it was discussed that there is $350 that will need to be reimbursed to the Lacrosse association for the lining of Pinney Road fields. Chris Meunier will discuss this with David Pinney.

IV.               REPORTS:

                                                              i.      Parks Projects:  Mike Provencher was not present to give a update on the field projects; Battle Street playground has

been completed, but we have noticed low usage; Chris M.

will speak with Jen Charette about posting the opening on the Web site. The commission members noted that the Firehouse field grass has come in sparsely despite the irrigation system, and that crabgrass has taken over the field; Mark Murdoch raised a concern that unless the problem is taken care of this Fall, the field will not be ready for Spring Lacrosse usage. It was also noticed that there was no lock on the pumphouse, which raised concerns of potential vandalism. Chris M. will discuss the situation with Mike P. and report back to Mark Murdoch and the commission.

It was noted that the Field Road baseball fields still need work on the fencing and back filling at the end of the warning tracks. Awaiting update from Mike P. on the status

of getting a new contractor to complete the project.

V.                  Old Business

a.      Programs: Nothing submitted

b.      Skate Board Park: no new complaints received

VI.       New Business

c.      Update on Fall Sports: Mark Murdoch reported that an informal Fall Lacrosse league has been created which will involve six towns; the Pinney Road fields will be used. Pam Coverdill reported that Fall

Flag Football will commence in August and transpire through early

November. There are seven  lower division teams (grades 3-5) and five upper division teams (grades 6-8); they will use Field 3 on Friday nights and on another weekday for practice on the instructional field.

d.      New Fields project: no update given

e.      Steap proposals: Chris Meunier submitted a proposal as follows:

Objective: Improve safety at the park and firehouse fields while also expanding park offerings to seniors

·        Install wooden guard rail around Field Road Park & Firehouse fields (estimate - $40,500)

·        Install Musco sports Lighting on field #4 (baseball diamond) and on multi-purpose fields (estimate-$370,000)

·        Chip Seal roadway at park (estimate unknown)

·        Install Life Trail System for Seniors (estimate- $46,041)

The commission discussed the need to review the proposal for the wooden guard rail installation around the Firehouse Field; there was a question as to whether or not a railing was needed on the north side of the field also.

VII.              Coordinator’s Report: none submitted

VIII.          Other: There was discussion about the drainage problem at MBA field. Because of wetness, the field is mostly unusable in the early spring; because this field is owned by the school, we will need to approach David Pinney about directing this matter to the right town committee.

IX.               Correspondence: none

X.                 Adjournment

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Karen Murdoch and

seconded by Rick Lees. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
