The meeting

by J.Formeister.
Minutes of the 8/9/07
meeting were unanimously approved as presented (Cowles, Broer).
MBA/CO---H.Pearson reported continued progression through punch
list. Not much change in the science prep room, fume hood not completed
(bottom part not installed).
We’ve been
told verbally that the Bldg.
Inspector has issued C.O.’s but we have not seen them. H.Pease stated he went through building with Inspector and
Fire Marshall. The Committee directed
him to contact Bldg. Insp. in person and obtain the
C.O.’s. School
starts next week.
Dr.
Suffredini asked when we can bring other
people in to finish outstanding work. H.Pearson said we’ll need proper letters, written time
frame, a warning, etc. H.Pease stated workers have not even been on site
lately. Equipment, tools still on
site. Many items still
on punch list. Committee
expressed concern with finishing project completely as well as with school opening.
Chairman of Committee will be updated/notified
tomorrow. Dr. Suffredini will have
meeting in his office Monday, 8/27 with reps from EBI, MPN, Committee, B.Boutwell, H.Pease. MPN will draft letter to hand deliver to EBI
rep if necessary and registered letter would follow.
J.MacFeat
presented quote for elevator shaft to be brought to renovate as new status,
$12,248.00, Lonsdale. A motion was unanimously approved to spend for $12,248.00
on elevator work and for J.MacFeat to contact
Lonsdale to do the work (O”Brien, Cowles).
Discussion
of security in 2 areas, doorway access between CO and MBA will tie into fire
alarm system, and cameras at bus loop and at tech area
with digital loop recorder. A motion was
made and unanimously approved to install security at CO-MBA door not to exceed
$3500 with approval of Fire Dept. and to add cameras to existing MBA system at
bus loop and tech area with digital recorder not to exceed $9500 (O’Brien,
Cowles).
H.Pease
reported the lowest quote he has for
large screens as noted at previous meetings is $1170. A motion was unanimously approved for H.Pease to buy screens for $1170 (O’Brien, Cowles).
H.Pease
discussed the need for him to be on
site, especially when little work is being done. He will try to come when there is work being done but would like to take a
vacation soon.
The question
was raised as to whether the choral room at SHS was finished after CO moved
out. Dr. Suffredini will look into this.
B.Boutwell
distributed letters from John Magnesi of the Dept. of Labor concerning the
prevailing wage issue with B&G Environmental, LLC. B&G did not pay prevailing wage to
workers and has not responded to DOL.
Arrest warrant is being issued.
EBI is responsible and is cooperating, but ultimately the Town could be out around $100,000. There is retainage
of about $423,000.
Memo from B.Boutwell to Robert Lord for furniture issues was
discussed. Committee is holding money
till resolution. H.Pease
is working with company.
A motion was
unanimously approved to pay EBI $35,822.70 for work completed once the C.O. is in our hands (O’Brien, Cowles). Consensus to not pay retainage
yet, due to above discussed outstanding issues.
