REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

September 11, 2007

 

1. Call to Order:  Chairman Torres called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M.

 

11. Members Present:  John Torres, Robert Minch, Barbara Flebotte, Edward Mack, Daniel Scully

 

Absent: B.J. Ferro III, Jerry Young

 

Public Hearing was called to order by Chairman Torres at 7:32 P.M.

 

111.  Public Hearing

 

1.      1.      Gary and Susan Berube

 

Secretary, Commissioner Scully read the legal notice.  Gary and Susan Berube of 55 Maple Ridge Drive, Somers, CT. are seeking a variance from Somers Code 214-98 requirement of a 25 feet for rear and side yard set-back in order to allow for the location of a proposed storage shed on their property at 55 Maple Ridge Drive, Somers, CT. 

 

The Berube’s submitted pictures of the property in question and explained in further detail the size of the lot and its typography.

 

 Letters from their abutters; Kenneth & Betty Anderson, Lillian Harscheid, Dorothy Stolarz, & Cheryl Kingsbury were also presented.  All abutters were in favor with the proposed location of the shed.

 

After all discussion, motion made by Commissioner Mack; seconded by Commissioner Minch and unanimously approved to cease discussion and adjourn the public hearing.

 

Public Hearing closed at 7:38 P.M

 

IV. Regular Meeting

The regular meeting continued at 7: 39 P.M.

 

V.  Minutes Approval – August 14, 2007

 

Motion made by Commissioner Scully, seconded by Commissioner Mack, to approve the ZBA August 14, 2007 minutes as presented.  Motion approved unanimously.

VI. Public Hearing Discussion

 

1.      1.      Gary & Susan Berube

 

After some discussion, motion made by Commissioner Minch; seconded by Commissioner Flebotte and unanimously voted to cease discussion and vote.

 

The Commission voted unanimously to grant a variance from Somers Code 214-98 requirement of 25 feet for rear and side yard set-back in order to allow for the location of a proposed storage shed on their property at 55 Maple Ridge Drive, Somers, CT. 

 

VII. Old Business:

Mr. Torres stated that the town is requesting an annual report from the ZBA Commission and that he would be working on that and presenting it to the town and Commission as well over the next month or two.

None

 

IX. Correspondence: 

None

 

X.  Bills: 

Motion made by Commissioner Mack; seconded by Commissioner Flebotte to pay all ZBA bills including the Journal Inquirer.  Motion approved unanimously.

 

XI. Adjournment: 

Motion made by Commissioner Mack; second by Commissioner Scully to adjourn the meeting.              Motion approved unanimously.  The meeting stood adjourned at 7:51 P.M.
