Others: H.Pearson, H.Pease, K.Nassetta, J.Petronella
(EBI), N.Barry
The meeting was called to
order at 7:33pm by
Chairman Roland.
Minutes of the 8/23/07
meeting were approved as presented (Cowles, MacFeat), after discussion of choral
room. MPN has confirmed the room was completed as designed; there is no more work to be done after CO moved
out. The area is presently being used as classrooms
due to space needs but can be used as a choral room.
MBA/CO---P.Roland commented
that H.Pease has done a great job and the
Committee is very pleased with his work.
There are only 14 items remaining on the
punch list, and some of these are
waiting for materials on order. There
was discussion of the 8/29/07 and all items on the list.
H.Broer commented he was excluded from the
meeting and would have liked to attend; he has attended nearly all site meetings throughout the
building projects and is commended for that.
Apologies were made to him.
J.MacFeat is working on the HVAC improvements to the
Media Center area.
K.Nassetta stated EBI will
replace shrubs in front of the
building and do seeding throughout as needed (overseeding, slit-seeding,
etc.). The Somers School District
will take care of the trees and other shrubs.
K.Nassetta gave a date of 10/1/07 to have punch list
completed, except for screens. Electric
boxes will be flush with the ground.
N.Barry reported some clocks
are not working properly.
H.Pearson stated as-builts
etc. will all be available by mid-October.
Rooftop fans---EBI has ownership of two, the
District is responsible for others. P.Roland stated there
are covers missing on air handlers on roof.
H.Pearson will check on this.
Assisted listening in the gym
is not working properly.
The Committee and EBI then signed the
Certificate of Substantial Completion.
The B&G issue is pending; the
Labor Dept. is waiting for information and documentation. It is expected we will have an answer in less than
a month, then we will have a better idea what the Town’s exposure is. This should not affect our re-imbursement
from the State.
P.Roland stated that based
on our contract, we’re paid up, since substantial completion is usually 95%
payment and we have paid EBI this. A
motion was made and unanimously approved to hold back $100,000 and pay EBI $323,517.79
(Cowles, O’Brien). It is expected we
will pay the balance at next month’s
meeting. Compliments were paid to EBI
and what a great job they have
done. Everything has gone smoothly, with
credit also to N.Barry and her staff.
A motion was made and
unanimously approved for Change Order# , pad by choral room, for $2786.84
(Cowles, O’Brien).
Discussion of the dedication and open house/tours of all 3 schools
on 9/29/07 starting at noon, where it will be held, who will speak, if music
can be piped thru buildings, etc. MPN
was asked if they can help with cost
of refreshments. J.Formeister will send
invitations out (letter read) and contact newspapers for press releases and
coverage of event. Building principals will
contact staff members and arrange for tours.
The following bills were
unanimously approved by the
Committee:
MPN, 8/31/07 MBA, Inv.#15215, $1759.08
8/31/07, CO, Inv.#15216, $213.06 (MacFeat, Cowles)

Respectfully submitted,
Joan Formeister, Secretary
