Chairman Lou Bachetti called
the meeting to order at
Members present were Louis
Bachetti, Robert Schmidt, Ron Elliott and Richard Cheney. Maura Gardiner and David
Reed were absent.
Motion by Richard Cheney and
seconded by Robert Schmidt that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved
without change. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Correspondence
Chairman Bachetti announced
that a planned surprise retirement party for Ken Anderson is set and if anyone
is interested in attending they should call Lou for details. Lou also mentioned
that he has received notice that the 2008 EDC meeting schedule is now due.
Project Progress Reports
Somers Business Association
Ron Elliott updated the group
concerning the activities of the Somers business steering committee. The
committee has scheduled a Business and Merchant Expo which will be held on
.
Status of the of
Somersville Mill
Lou Bachetti reported that the
advisory committee has selected a developer for the mill property.
a) EDC 2008 Goals - The chairman asked the group to think
about the goals the commission should focus on for 2008 and submit their ideas
to him. Rick Cheney recommended one which relates to the commission having more
input on town planning and zoning issues and also requested that a the
commission have a liaison from the land use office sit on the board.
b) Business Questionnaire – The chairman presented a
working draft of a questionnaire that will be sent to the business community
asking for their input on a few items that the commission is working on.
Updating EDC website
No update.
Chairman updates
Reported that a new business
had opened in town by the name of Sue’s Shirt Creations. Also updated the group
on a project that Developer Dan Roulier was working on at Worthington Pond
