TOWN OF SOMERS

LIBRARY BUILDING COMMITTEE

January 2, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 5:05 PM.

MEMBERS PRESENT; TIM Welch, Shirley Warner, Bob Socha, Mike Gruber, Irma Claman and Andy Phillips. Jim Conlin and Phil Rosenthal were absent.

Also present were Francine Aloisa and Richard Szczypek.

Richard Szczypek gave committee members John Wilcox’s written response to the suggestions made by Bob Socha to the existing drawings.

The architect presented a new project cost estimate as of December 30, 2007. Tai Soo Kim will meet with the design engineers and the cost estimator and have a reconciled number at the next meeting.

The architect presented phasing plans for the construction of the new library. Phase I (new construction) will take about 12 months and phase II (renovation of the existing library) is estimated to take about 6 months.

Discussion was had about re-locating the children’s library to Kibbe-Fuller. It was recommended that arrangements be made to move the children’s library by March 1^st.

A collection analysis is to be sent to Mary Louise Jensen of the State Library for approval before the project goes out to bid.

Shirley Warner moved to approve the 2008 schedule of meetings. Seconded by Mike Gruber and approved unanimously.

Shirley Warner moved to approve the minutes of November 14, 2007. Seconded by Andy Phillips and approved unanimously.

.Andy Phillips moved to approve the minutes of December 5, 2007. Seconded by Shirley Warner and

approved unanimously.

Shirley Warner moved to approve the minutes of December 12, 2007, as amended. Seconded by Andy Phillips and approved unanimously.

Mike Gruber moved to approve the minutes of December 19, 2007, as amended. Seconded by Bob Socha and approved unanimously.
