TOWN OF SOMERS

LIBRARY BUILDING COMMITTEE

January 30, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 5 PM.

MEMBERS PRESENT; Tim Welch, Phil Rosenthal, Shirley Warner, Andy Phillips, Mike Gruber, Bob Socha and Irma Claman. Jim Conlin was absent.

Also present were Francine Aloisa, Richard Szczypek, John Wilcox, Jeanette O’Connell and David Pinney.

Shirley Warner moved to accept the minutes of January 16, 2008. Seconded by Andy Phillips and approved unanimously.

Andy Phillips moved to approve the minutes of January 23, 2008. Shirley Warner seconded and approved unanimously.

David Pinney spoke about the process of going out to bid for a contractor.

Richard Szczypek advised the committee of the proposed schedule for going out to bid. It is hoped that the plans and specs will be available for contractors on or about March 1^st. He recommended the outright purchase of the plans and specs by the contractors. Tai Soo Kim will draw up a draft of a schedule covering the things to be done between now and March 1, 2008.

Jeanette O’Connell presented her choice of a color palette and furnishings for use in the new library. Lengthy discussion followed.

It was the general consensus of the committee that the color palette presented is a satisfactory choice with the possible exception of some of the carpet selections. Jeanette will present other carpet samples to the committee at the February 13^th meeting.

There will be a special meeting on February 6^th , at which time final budget figures will be presented by the architect.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
