FIRE COMMISSION

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

Thursday March 20, 2008

 

 

 

CALL TO ORDER:     Dave Palmer called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

 

·         Members Present:  Alice Van Tasel, Dave Palmer and Carl Rohrbach, Jr.

·         Others Present:      Fire Chief Ed Pagani,  Deputy Fire Marshal Glenn Reynolds, Town Clerk Ann Logan

  

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

·         No minutes were approved

 

FIRE CHIEF:

·         Vehicle Maintenance, Building Maintenance and Heat accounts are overrun and will result in FY 2007/2008 year end Fire Department budget deficit

·         The Ambulance  budget remains on track

·         Burnham Hydronics, the manufacturer of the station’s boilers, has indicated that both boilers were installed incorrectly by the contractor when the station was built seven years ago.  The Burnham Installation and Operating Manual were not followed which has caused reduced burner efficiency and will effect boiler warranty and longevity. 

o        The Chief was asked by the Commission to obtain two estimates for both repair of the current system and replacement of the current system as well as the warrantees associated with each of the options and talk to the Town’s Operations Manager to determine the next step.

 

FIRE MARSHAL:

·         The Deputy Fire Marshal provided the Commission with a list all the properties in Town subject to inspection by the Fire Marshal’s office.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

·         The Town Clerk administered the oath of office to the Commission members present

 

ADJOURNMENT:

·         The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. on a motion made by Mrs. Van Tasel, seconded by Mr. Rohrbach and passed unanimously.  The next regular meeting is April 17, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Somers Fire House.
