TOWN OF
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER: Frank Lawlor called the
meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
·
Minutes from the January
17, 2008 meeting, the February 7, 2008 meeting and the March 20, 2008 meeting
were all approved unanimously after a motion by Mr. Palmer and second by Mr.
Rohrbach.
FIRE CHIEF:
·
A FY 2007/2008 year end
Fire Department budget deficit of as much as $18K-$20K is projected primarily
because of higher energy costs and unexpected major maintenance on the
station’s boilers
·
The
Ambulance budget projects as much as a $1K deficit.
·
The
Chief received a written proposal from JP Engineering to provide engineering
services to evaluate and provide options for the current heating system and to design
and oversee construction of necessary improvements to the system. The Commission was told that the First
Selectman has another engineering firm ready to submit a proposal.

A
motion was made by Mr. Palmer and seconded by Mr. Lawlor requesting these
independent engineering services proposals for the Fire Station’s heating
system project be put on the Board of Selectmen’s next meeting agenda for the
purpose of reviewing these proposals.

The meeting was adjourned at
7:50 p.m. on a motion made by Mr. Bruno, seconded by Mrs.
Van Tasel and passed unanimously.
The next regular meeting is June 19, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Somers Fire
House.
