Join international famous “Wildman” Steve Brill as he comes
to Somers for the first time in this Recreation Department arranged attraction!
This will be a highly educational,
informative and entertaining special tour.
On this hike Mr. Brill will
point out numerous overlooked edible and medicinal wild herbs, greens, and
mushrooms that grow wild in natural areas throughout the region. Under his expertise you will learn to
recognize many natural food sources and gather them ecologically for use as food and home remedies. Greenbrier, cattails, violets, garlic
mustard, burdock root, wild mint, and much more is right under your nose! The tour leader “Wildman” Steve seasons the
seasonal edibles with generous helpings of science and conservation, a pinch of
folklore and mythology, a dash of history and an all natural extract of cooking
information; all tossed together with his jokes, humor, and anecdotes! Bring a plastic bag for vegetables and herbs
and paper bag for mushrooms. Also bring
some drinking water
