Art classes for your preschool Picasso!  Join the fun and create beautiful spring projects.

Children aged 3yrs. to 5yrs. are welcome.  All projects are developmentally appropriate,

with our emphasis being on having fun.  All supplies are included.  Parents are welcome to

stay, but it is not necessary.  Please register at the Recreation Office for this great new program.

For the 3 and 4 year olds  we offer  a class where they will come unescorted.  The little ones are now in a position to develop a sense of self-worth and confidence, which they will carry with them for life.  For this reason we have established a class situation where the child repeatedly experiences success.  All is achieved in a fun loving, positive atmosphere.  Make sure you mention you are

 improve character and self confidence while at the same time laying the foundation for self-defense skills.

During this special Mad Scienvce week your child will learn about gardens, from how they grow to interesting things that call them home.  They will explore seeds and soil, bugs, and so much more.  Throughout the week they will make something each day to take home with them that will help cultivate and encourage their own “garden” of curiosity to grow.  Since we will be outdoors at times for this week please have your child wear sunscreen and a hat.  Also have them bring a snack related to the garden theme (fruits or vegetables).

The Somers Recreation Department is offering its popular Pre-School camp again

this summer! This program is run under the leadership of Ginny Tabb, director and

head teacher of the Somers Cooperative Preschool and her staff.  There will be six,

one week sessions; each week features a central theme. There will be daily arts &

crafts, games, music, stories and lots of fun for all! Your child will need to bring a

snack. There will be no field trips in this camp. (Children must be toilet trained).

Ages 3-5  Children are introduced to the motor skills needed for future sports use.  Start Smart is a program developed with special equipment (balls, bats, etc) by the National Alliance for Youth Sports that will teach fundamentals in kicking, throwing, catching, etc..  Parent participation is required.

 

 

When: Thursdays and/or Saturdays, May 8, 10 to June 12, 14

6:00-6:45 PM on Thursdays  and 9:30-10:15 AM on Saturdays

Ages 3 ½ -5  Children are introduced to basic fundamentals of throwing, catching, running and hitting to lay the foundation for future interest in baseball.

This program puts emphasis on fun and safety and we use tennis balls and wifferball bats.  Parent volunteers are essential for the program.  Please indicate your

Interest when you register. .

 

 

When:  5 Saturdays beginning Sept 20    9:30 -10:30

 

Where: Field Road Park – Mini Soccer field adjacent to playground

 

Cost:  $10 (includes a ball)

 

Ages 3 -5  Children are introduced to basic fundamentals of kicking, dribbling and throwing

to lay the foundation for future interest in soccer. This program puts emphasis on fun and safety. 

Parent volunteers are essential for the program.

Spring sessions for children ages newborn to 4 and their caregivers

will run once a week for 10 weeks. Somers programs begin April 15, 16 & 17   

Thursdays - 10:30 - mixed age class (0-4);

Fridays - 9:30 and 10:30 mixed age classes

Fridays - 11:30 - NEW babies  

Saturdays – 9:30 & 10:30 mixed age class

ALL CHILDREN ARE MUSICAL!  At Music Together we emphasize actual musical experiences rather than concepts about music; we introduce children to the pleasures of making music instead of passively receiving it from CD’s or television.  Because young children instinctively respond to and imitate their loved ones, the active participation of parents and caregivers - regardless of their musical ability - is an essential part of the rich musical environment we create.  COME MAKE MUSIC WITH US!

 

Class tuition:  $130 for one child, $80 for additional siblings -infants under 8 months are free with a registered sibling.  Tuition includes classes, songbook, CD, tape and parent guide for new Music Together families.  We also have gift certificates available - makes a great gift from Grandparents!
