REMINDERS!

DMV has your name on file if you owe back taxes. The delinquency is on your name (even if you are a co-signer on a loan), not on a specific MV. You cannot get a release to register any MV until these taxes are paid.

The MV Supplement bills sent out in Jan. are on newly purchased vehicles and the amount owed is calculated from the date of purchase.

Any change in address for MVs, has to be done through DMV AND they MUST put their P.O. Box # (if they use one) above the town line. The assessor’s office needs to be notified of COAs for any Real Estate, or Personal Property bills. The Post Office will no longer deliver to physical addresses if a PO Box is used.

Property liens get put on delinquent RE taxes and are usually applied in April or May.

You can call us at 763-8210 or email us for your payment history at: taxasst@somersct.gov

You only receive one RE tax bill in July. Please save the second installment coupon for the Jan. payment. This also applies to MV bills over $250.00
