The Design Review Study Committee has the following charge:
1. Collect information (including published design guidelines, pertinent
regulations and ordinances, description of adoption procedures and descriptions
of implementation and operating procedures) from a sufficient number of towns to
substantially represent the variety of approaches to community design
guidelines.
2. Work among themselves and possibly with experienced individuals from other
communities to consider what components and processes might be most appropriate
for Somers.
3. Conduct at least two public hearings: one to provide an opportunity to review
with the public initial descriptions of the various applications to community
design that the committee is studying and a second to discuss with the public
the general direction the committee would be recommending the Town of Somers
should take.
4. Meet jointly with the Planning and Zoning Commissions and the Selectmen to
review the information gleaned in the study process and the suggestions for
steps that the town should take.
