Town Hall

I. CALL
TO ORDER:
First Selectman David Pinney called the hearing to order at 7:20 p.m. and read the legal notice.
II. Review
and Discussion of the Stormwater Management Plan for the Town
of
Somers
David Pinney explained the Stormwater Management Plan that was drafted on July 2, 2004. The main purpose is to prevent pollution into the town's water systems. This can be done by educating the public in the correct disposal of any pollutants and keeping our culverts and drains free of debris and contaminants.
Mike Provencher, 24 Michele Drive asked if this plan fits in with the revised Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). David Pinney said the POCD supports the implementation of the Stormwater Management Plan.
Also, does the BOS support the implementation of this plan? David Pinney said the Board of Selectmen is comfortable with the plan, as written.
Kathy Devlin said that it is a federal and state requirement to have a Stormwater Management Plan in place and she is very pleased to see that this has been done.
David Pinney said that parts of this plan require action by both the Public Works Department and Planning/Zoning Commissions and will require financial support from the town.
Mike Provencher asked if - by complying with this federal and state law - would the town be more likely to receive any available grant? Kathy Devlin replied that this is doubtful
but by complying, the Town will certainly avoid penalties.
No other comments were made.
III. ADJOURNMENT:
