Special Town Meeting Minutes

7:00 p.m. Somers Town Hall
The meeting was called to
order by First Selectman David Pinney at 7:02 p.m. with approximately 21
citizens in attendance. The Legal
Notice for the Special Town Meeting was read by First Selectman Pinney.
1.
to elect a moderator
A
motion was made by K.Klein, seconded by M.Madden and unanimously voted to elect
David Pinney as moderator
2. to act upon a recommendation from the Board
of Finance and the Board of Selectmen to transfer $11,500 from Elementary
School Boilers to capital account for the new ambulance

motion was made by M.Madden, seconded by J.Steinmetz and unanimously voted to
approve the transfer of $11,500 as recommended by the Board of Finance and the
Board of Selectmen
3. to act upon a recommendation from the Board
of Finance and the Board of Selectmen to transfer $72,000 from High School
Contingency to High School Construction Project and a transfer of $30,000 from
Somers Elementary School Contingency to Somers Elementary School Construction
Project
K.Klein
explained that the monies needed from the contingency were for unforeseen
construction expenditures. The high
school included the moving of a water line, fire hydrant, countertops, and
wiring within the building for data retrieval.
No monies were expected to be expended for ‘add-ons’. A
motion was made by K.Klein, seconded by F.Meyer and unanimously voted to
transfer the $72,000 from HS Contingency to HS Construction Project. K.Klein again explained that the
elementary monies were for unforeseen expenditures such as the cafeteria
underground work. The roof replacement
is not a part of the construction project, but within CIP. A
motion was made by K.Klein, seconded by J.O’Brien and unanimously voted to
approve the transfer of $30,000 from Elementary Contingency to Elementary
Construction Project.
4. to
act upon a recommendation from the Board of Selectmen to adopt the new proposed
Fire Commission Ordinance
A
motion was made by M.Madden, seconded by K.Klein and unanimously voted to adopt
the ordinance as proposed
5. to act upon a recommendation from the Board
of Selectmen to publish said Fire Commission ordinance, if adopted, in summary
form
A
motion was made by K.Devlin, seconded by M.Madden and unanimously voted to
publish the ordinance in summary format.
