Mission Statement
To promote a spirit of sportsmanship, responsibility,
and enthusiasm amongst the student athletes, as well as the development and
enhancement of the athletic program.
The Booster Club is an organization comprised of
parents whose main objective is to promote sportsmanship, responsibility,
and enthusiasm amongst the student athletes as well as the development and
enhancement of the athletic program.
What we Do
In the past two years, the Booster Club has contributed
money to MBA to buy a new scoreboard in the gymnasium and to buy all new
field hockey equipment. We as an organization would like to continue to help
enhance the athletic program at MBA. In order to continue enhancing the
program the club needs your help. Please consider becoming a Board Member or
if not a Board Member, than an interested parent to help with fund raising.
The club is convinced that with the budget constraints
year after year the athletic department will need the Booster Clubs help
more and more. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact:

Event Descriptions
Donation Solicitation Letters – Letters are mailed
to all households in Somers requesting donations to support athletics in the
Somers school system. This is our main fund raiser. Approximately 4,000 letters
are mailed out and raise approximately $3,500.
Senior Pictures – A 4x6 framed picture of each
senior athlete is given to the student at the end of each sports season. The
picture is of the athlete in action during his or her sport.
Athlete of the Month – This is a certificate
provided to male and female athletes each month during the season. The coach’s
of all sports are requested to submit their recommendation. The Booster Club
Board of Directors selects the recipients.
Disbursement to athletic budget – This is how the
Booster Club contributes to athletics in the school district. The Booster Club
Board of Directors decides the amount of funds to be disbursed. There are three
disbursements, October for winter sports purchases, February for spring sports
purchases, and June for the following fall sports purchases. The Athletic
Manager decides on the appropriate use of the funds and provides a report to the
Booster Club indicating the items purchased.
Snack Bar at Basketball Games – The Booster Club
runs the snack bar at all boys and girls home basketball games. Parents that are
not board members are solicited to work.
50/50 Raffle at Basketball Games – The Booster Club
sells tickets for a 50/50 raffle. The winning ticket is pulled at half time of
the varsity game. The holder of the winning ticket receives half of the ticket
sales and the Booster Club receives the other half.
Booster Club Scholarship – The Booster Club awards
two $1,000 college scholarships, one for a male athlete and one for a female
athlete. Any senior may apply. The Booster Club Board of Directors makes the
selection
Sports Awards – At the end of each season the
coaches, athletes, and family get together to distribute awards and letters to
the athletes. There are refreshments at the conclusion of the award
presentations.
Senior Plaques – Each senior who has earned four or
more varsity letters receives a plaque that states the athlete’s name and the
number of letters received.
Varsity Jackets - These are jackets given to
varsity athletes earning their first varsity letter.
